January gigs are C~O~L~D in Vermont! But worth it anyway!
Suzanne has returned from a trip to Fairview Heights, Illinois, where she provided music
and testimony for the "Metamorphosis" Collegiate Women's Conference there.
And a smaller "4-piece" contingent of the band, dubbed "Lean
Slate," had a great time yesterday afternoon (23 Jan) playing a short set at
the "24 Hours of Praise" event in Meade Chapel at Middlebury College. It
was a pleasure to participate, and to see so many local Christian bands join together in
praise!
Keep warm!

Happy New Year to all of you from Clean Slate! May the Lord bless
you and keep you this year!
Additional tracking and mixing for the Clean Slate CD has continued thru
the month of December. We've got 6 full songs "in the computer" and well
on their way to a final mix. It's a long process with a LOT of tracks, though, so
hang in there with us! We hope to announce the CD sometime before the snow melts!
A reminder to the band: the Clean Slate practice schedule is on
line and active.
Please add your unavailable dates, keep them current, and check often for practice and gig
scheduling information.

document for advertisement, you can download those items directly from the bookings page. Pamphlet and "van" photos are
available at full resolution.

OK, you can see by the calendar that our next
gig is on Friday, 16 May 2003 to open for the Lake Champlain Bible Conference at Basin
Harbor Club. That's the good news. There's still time to register for the conference, but you must hurry!
Registrations will close the week before the event, so do it now! It will be
an event to remember!
Though not on the calendar yet, we are working some additional gigs for
this year. One promising event is likely to be held in June (either the 14th or the
28th). The producer of the "Crossroads" concert series is looking to hook
up Clean Slate and Fynyte for a really awesome outdoor concert "on the green" in
Ferrisburgh (that's right on Rt. 7 for you locals). Once we iron out the detials,
we'll post 'em here.
We are also still working dates for a concert in Johnson, VT--possibly
in July. Stay tuned for that one as well.
One last tidbit: We are working a "worship team swap" between
the Panton Community Baptist Church (home of Clean Slate) and the Hinesburg Alliance
Church. This could happen any Sunday, so keep a watch out.

We're done playing out for the remainder of this calendar year.
Thanks to all of the folks who've invited us out, and who have attended concerts this past
year. We look forward to seeing old friends and making a few new ones in the new
season. We're starting to book gigs for 2003, so stay tuned to your e-mail or visit
the calendar page for updates.
If you'd like to be added to the mailing list, just e-mail us and we'll make sure you get a
personal invitation to every show!

Special Concert Announcement:
Come out to the "Over The River and Through The Woods" concert this

last 'gig' for the season, so come on out an celebrate the Lord with us!
Catch a few band members from the Champlain Valley Fall Fellowship
Festival:

Sunday,
September 15, 2002
If you weren't at the Champlain Valley Exposition on Saturday, Sept
14th, then you missed the Fall Fellowship Festival and a TON of local Christian music!
Clean Slate set a record with a 4.5 minute setup-to-playing time (our average is
more like 3 hours). It's absolutely AMAZING how much time you can save by skipping
the sound check altogether!!!
Though our set list was a bit limited without Keyboard#2 (Vickie) and
BG-Vocal (Alto) (also Vickie), the crowd seemed to like quite a cross-section of musical
styles, and we had a great time playing. Especially helpful were the CMI Radio
sponsors, and the many volunteers who operated the donated sound system, stage, and site!
Thanks, and we hope to see an even bigger FFF next year!

It's good to be back! After a nice summer break, the band
re-surfaced at the best agricultural fair on the planet at Addison County Farm and Field
Days last Tuesday evening. We were honored to be the guests of the Addison County
Gospel Choir, playing a few "updated" tunes in the renovated show barn at the
fair.
The following Sunday, we returned to our third-annual visit to Riparius,
NY to lead worship there and hear Gordon's message about, what else(?), Rest!
We've still got a handful of T-Shirts available while supplies last.
Plans for the Fall Fellowship Festival at the Champlain Valley
Exposition and Fairgrounds have been firmed up. Mark Saturday, September 14, 2002 on
your calendar. A TON of local Christian bands will be on hand all day long!
Clean Slate will be on for a set starting at 12:30 in the afternoon, but the music runs
all day and into the night! Click here for details from
the calendar page and a link to the Champlain Valley Expo web
site.

Yikes! Three in a week! We weren't kidding. What a
busy time! We had a fantastic, if hectic, time this past week hosting three concerts
in just 6 days.
The first was the now-annual Panton Block Party on Sunday the 9th.
The next day, we packed up and travelled to the Villiage Missions conference at the
Word Of Life Christian Center in Schroon Lake, NY, for an evening of worship and
fellowship. Topping it all off was Friday's second Crossroads Concert Series event,
this time at the Opera House in Vergennes, VT. We were delighted to participate,
along with Waiting Wind and the New Life Christian Fellowship Worship Band, in a 3+ hour
evening "mega-event".
We'll be taking a break for about 6 weeks. Enjoy your summer, and
we'll see you in August!

Yikes! Three in a week! Another explosion of concerts is
heading your way with new music and a new attitude! Clean Slate is playing their
hearts out starting June 9th at the Panton "West End" Block Party (1:00 PM --
Check out the invitations around town). The next day is a concert for the Villiage
Missions annual conference at the Word of Life Christian Center in Schroon Lake, NY.
Friday night (14th) caps it off with the continuation of the Crossroads Concert
Series--Crossroads II at 7:00 PM in the Vergennes (VT) Opera House.
Come hear us in June--we'll need a break after this buzy week!
Check the dates on the calendar and come on
out!

The band enjoyed a very pleasant trip to Forest Dale (near Brandon, VT)
yesterday evening for a concert at the local church. We caught up with a few friends
there, made some new ones, and enjoyed their hospitality. Lisa even brought some
yummie Nebraska Dirt Cake to share with the birthday boys Keith and Dave!
Don't miss the concert at the Vergennes Opera House on Monday, April
29th!

The web site has a brand-new page to reflect the Studio
Status of the CD project! Listed on the page are the complete song and
individual track status of every song on the project (plus a few on the side). The
status chart is color-coded to make overall status updates a snap to spot. Watch the
CD get closer to reality as the chart changes from white to yellow, thru green, blue, red,
and finally black to indicate progress on each song and track.

We've started our compilation of stories and pictures from our recent
mission trip to Darlington, England. Check out The Darlington Road page for a

We've also firmed up the calendar for the
rest of the year.

Where'd March go? I guess maybe we were too busy to notice that
Spring has already arrived, even here in Vermont! March was an uncharacteristically
busy month for us, with three big events already come and gone. We were priviledged
to be asked back to the Grace Cafe and to participate in the first Crossroads concert
series, and overwhelmed to be invited to a gig in our very own back yard(!) of Panton to
close out the month.
Thanks to everyone who helped out or pitched in this month!
The band is committed to staying in the studio during April and May. We
continue working on our first full-length CD of original material at ChestnutBay Studios,
till it's either tracked or Mud Season is over (whichever comes last, I think).
Monday, February 26, 2001
Dave's been thinking about the terrible tragedy in India, and how some
of it might be happening much closer to home. Check out the new devotion on the web site.
Thursday, February 8, 2001
Clean Slate is pleased to announce our participation in a benefit concert in
Panton on March 24. The concert is a fund raiser for a local Pantonite, Danny Rheaume (pronounced "Ram"), who is suffering from CF and looking
to raise $70,000 for a lung transplant operation.
The event will start at 7:30 pm, and features both Clean Slate, and
local guitarist and songwriter Josh Brooks.

Plans are in full swing for a brand-new event in Mead Memorial Chapel at
Middlebury College (VT) in March! Clean Slate has been
asked to be part of "Crossroads
I," a multi-band event scheduled for Saturday, March 17. At present, three
bands are scheduled and the location has been arranged. Stay tuned for more details
as the event approaches!
The band is back in the studio during February. We are working on our
first full-length CD of original material at ChestnutBay Studios during the winter.
After a rough first start, we've got several tracked already. God willing, we
hope to have a full CD available in time to help support our trip to the UK this fall.

Thanks to all our friends at Manadanock Congregational Church in Peterborough,
NH, for hosting the band and inviting us for the weekend.
The Worship Workshop introduced a few of the local musicians to the
possibilities of a Praise & Worship team in the church. Both the concert on
Saturday night and the Worship Service Sunday morning were wonderful opportunities to
share the Gospel with one another!
The band would like to especially thank each host family for your kindness and
generosity!

What an honor and priviledge to end our scheduled events for the Year 2000 at
Lenny LeBlanc's concert! Yes, we admit it, most of us hadn't heard of Lenny before
that night, but we all recognized his song "Fallin..." once we heard the first
few bars.
His testamony and encouragement through his songs and stories were truely
uplifting, and we know of many who were blessed with his inspiring attitude and humble
heart.
Thanks also to CMI Radio for sponsoring the showcase! Four very different
bands, all with one mind--lifting their praise and music to Jesus Christ--provided a
relaxed, local introduction to the night of praise and worship.
Every one of us in Clean Slate wish you a most joyous Christmas season, and we
look forward to serving Christ in the New Year!
Friday, 17 November 2000
Grace Cafe was wonderful. A very exciting night of music and
worship! We're looking forward to an even more exciting night with Lenny LeBlanc
(see above). We've added a small audio clip from the radio promos for the show!
Sunday, 15 October 2000
Our Grace Cafe gig has been moved up a week to Saturday, November 4. We
will be part of their monthly live band series as winter wraps its mittens around us all
here up North, so come out for an evening of warmth (and java!).

October 2000
Last Saturday night's concert at the Addison Baptist Church provided a dry haven
on a very wet and stormy night. Clean Slate was delighted to provide a concert and
gospel presentation as part of their newly-established Saturday evening gathering.
Of course, a band really runs on its stomach, and the desserts and snacks after
the concert were a big hit!
We are looking forward to an evening at the Grace Cafe in Essex Junction, VT, on
Saturday, November 4th. We'll be starting an e-mail list at the concert that night,
so if you want to stay in touch with the band, sign up with your e-mail address and we'll
notify you when and where we'll be playing next! If you'd like to be added to the
list right now, simply contact us and
we'll set you up right away!

Friday's ice cream social was a fun evening for adults and kids alike.
Imagine a world (OK, church basement, really) where friends gather; the apple pie, ice
cream and brownies are free; and local politicians *don't* make speeches! For one
night, at least, it was a reality!
Saturday, 17 September 2000
Our local Ice Cream Social gig has been finalized, and is set for this Friday,
22 Sep, in Middlebury, VT. Check out the addition to the September calendar.
The Tales from Wales narrative of last year's mission
trip is now updated with photos from the trip.
Sunday, 10 September 2000
As promised, we've continued to work our 'gig' schedule through the end of
summer. We've added a few more scheduled appearances to this year, so be sure to
check the calendar pages (October and November) for the latest
concert schedule!

Sunday's 20 August "Deck
Party" might go down as the most successful surprise birthday party ever held!
Vickie was clueless right up until her name was mentioned in the "Happy
Birthday" song (and possibly even a few seconds afterward)!
Many Moose-related gifts were exchanged, and the party and
concert were a highlight
of the 'summer'. Mental note: Don't make the guest of honor play keyboard in the
band at her own party--she gets too distracted!
(Now that we can scan photos into the web site, lookout!)
We're working on a few more events for the last remaining weeks of 'summer' here
in Vermont. We're also trying to line up some indoor events later in the fall in
Burlington and Middlebury, so stay tuned to the calendar for
details.
Saturday, 19 August 2000
Friday night was a wonderful event! The folks at St Pius X in Essex put on
a fantastic summer picnic, complete with plenty of food, five bands, pie eating contests,
and a very popular dunking booth.
Our next scheduled event is this Sunday, 20 August,
at the Cook's house where we will be hosting the Second Annual PCBC Deck Party. This
is a BYOMASTS (Bring Your Own Meat And Something To Share) dinner and concert. Contact us for details and directions.
Tuesday, 8 August 2000
Our next scheduled event is Friday, the 18th of August in Essex, VT, at St Pius
X church. This is going to be a BIG Party on the grounds of the church! The
entire Burlington area diocese has been invited to help celebrate Jubilee 2000 at a
bigger-than-ever Family Day event this year.
Many bands will be on hand (Clean Slate is just the first of five
slated to appear on the outdoor stage), along with games for the whole family, food, and
lots of fun! Come out and enjoy!
Monday, 31 July 2000
Friday's concert in Middlebury certainly put our motto "Be Flexible"
to the test! We ended up playing as a quintet as our drummer, guitar player, and
keyboardist all were unable to attend.
Well, a little set list shuffling and some hidden percussion talent helped clear
the way for a nice evening to help support the local Right To Life chapter.
Saturday, 22 July 2000
Well, Friday Night's concert (21 July) in Middlebury was postponed due to rain.
However, we'll get a second chance to play in a wonderful setting this coming
Friday, 28 July, at the same location and time (6:00pm), so come out and enjoy!
Sunday's Senior Block Party on 23 July is ready to roll. The weather
forecast looks great, and we're throwing in a few fun numbers for the senior clan!
On the business front, it looks like we won't be scheduled for a First Night
this year. This frees us up for a possible New Year's gig, so if you're looking for
a Christian music source in or near Vermont to ring in the New Year, contact
us!
