Hi all!  It is with more than a touch of sadness that we must say "so long" to a few of our Clean Slate family!  It is official, now, that last Saturday's Godstock 2005 concert marked the final Clean Slate 'gig' for Keith, Gordon, and Vickie.

And, I guess we really mean "soooo long"--it's been nearly 6 solid years for the eight of us practicing, worshiping, playing, and traveling together as an inseparable team!  Over those 6 years, HUNDREDS of practices, and at least 81 concerts (Yep--I confirmed at least that many of 'em!), we've never really been without all the members of the band except for a few, very isolated dates.

Let's see...

There was the Fall Fellowship Festival in 2002 when Vickie was out of town--she missed the whole "worship dancer" deal that day.  Bob and Lisa were on vacation out of town during a 'pop-up' Middlebury, VT gig a few years ago.  Oh, and we had to do last year's Twenty-Four Hours of Praise in Middlebury on only half the band--"Lean Slate" we called ourselves.

But, other than those few times, we managed to pull together the very hectic schedules of 8 very busy people and do the "Clean Slate" thing as one big, committed (some might say 'insane') family looking to bring the message of Christ thru music and testimony.

Well, we're not about to give up now!  Family, jobs, and schedule pressures have forced a bit of a re-alignment, but Clean Slate will press forward, steadfast in our mission!

To that end, come celebrate with us tomorrow night and see the "New" Clean Slate at the inaugural Coffee House in the First United Methodist Church, Burlington, VT.  We'll even have a special guest--"Moose Cook" sitting in with us on keyboards!!!

We're not big on 'good-byes', and we couldn't possibly do justice in thanking Keith, Gordon, and Vickie for their endless contributions over the years.  All I can really say is: "Hey--you gotta take your share of CDs with you when you go, you know!  I SEE you trying to creep out unnoticed!  Get back here, and bring a BIG box!!!"

Godspeed in your future ministries, gang!  And come on out to a concert every now and then, won't you???

Hey, kids, who'da ever thought Jesus Christ would get so many "column inches" in the most liberal weekly in the most liberal city in Vermont?  [I count 11 references to Christ or Christian!  Just one short of the original number of Apostles!] Well, a surprise reporting team from Burlington's "Seven Days" newspaper attended our recent Missions Benefit concert in Ferrisburg last Saturday Night, and from the looks of the feature article, a lot of tough questions were kicking around in at least one person's noodle that night!

Check out the full story on-line: "Saturday Night Fervor".  Yeah, there are some inappropriate sweeping generalizations in a few spots that we would take issue with, but overall the writer did an excellent job presenting the events of the night to the reader as viewed from where she sat.

And that's where God meets us, isn't it?  Right where we sit!  And all according to His perfect Plan!  And sometimes He tosses the ball into our corner, and now it's our shot.  We gotta make a play, even if we still have questions about the rules!

What kind of questions?  "Are they serious?"  "Is this for real?"  "How come I haven't heard it that way before?"  "What's next?"

Hmmm.  What is next?

May 16 is a definite date for a loooong road trip to Newport, Vermont (eh?); home to an active Christian Women's Club that's hosting their annual couples night.  We're working hard on some 'special' music for that one!

Clean Slate's been invited to "GodStock 2005" in central Vermont (near Waitsfield).  Mark August 20th on your calendar and come out to see a great collection of local Christian bands!!!
