Heather began playing flute in the 4th grade. Music has always been an important part of her life. In Grand Blanc High School, Michigan, she played in every band opportunity that was offered, including solo and ensemble festivals. As an adult, Heather played flute in church on several occasions before joining Clean Slate. She attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, earning her B.S. in Education/Language Arts in 1984. Heather is married to Keith, and mother of two boys, ages 9 and 7. As if that weren't enough, she is also a Creative Memories consultant, a former elementary school teacher, a current Sunday School teacher at the Panton church, and she teaches flute lessons. Heather says, "I gave my life to Jesus when I was 14 years old. God guided me through my teen years allowing me to make just enough mistakes to know I needed Him and not too many to get into serious trouble. I asked the Lord for wisdom and trust that He will guide me in all things." Heather's involvement with the kids in her present community, as well as her background in elementary education, played a pivotal role in the band's trip to Wales in October 1999. There, she was instrumental in presenting the Gospel to hundreds of school children during the band's week in the community. She was present at each of the band's invitations to speak in the school system, from ages 3 all the way to high school teenagers. Her "gospel in a nutshell" presentations were very effective at conveying the essence of God's message and plan of salvation. Heather plays one instrument, plays it very well, and does not see a need to learn another. Neither do we!
